Isla San Franciso
Today I woke up at 6:30 am to get ready to go to the top sun deck to do yoga at 6:45. This morning yoga was taught by Julia, much calmer than yesterday’s yoga by Liz – but different kind of stretches. A nice variety. We worked on stretching the hamstrings and a lot of different variations of child’s pose. The sunrise was incredible. The link seeped through the clouds as a looked up from cobra pose and spots of pink burst through the white puffy clouds and it surrounded us as we changed poses. By 7:20, when we ended yoga the sun was just about up just in time to begin the day. Breakfast we started with some chilaquiles and a toasted cinnamon raisin bagel.
At 9:15 I prepared for the “ridge hike” that is guided by Mike. We took a skiff boat to the island – Isla San Francisco beach and hiked over the sand dunes into the salt flats. We even tasted the sea salt. As we began hiking through the different plants to reach the ridge we stumble upon cacti, leaves and more salt. Before I knew it, we got to the first overlook off the cliff. Beautiful. I could see miles away, and the water on one side of the island was dark blue, and the other was turquoise. It wasn’t as steep as I thought and we walked alongside the cliff and could see everything.
After lunch, we did some pretty cookie decorating because duh, it’s Christmas. Then I rushed off to catch the 2:15 boat to the beach party to do some super cool snorkeling. We saw so many different fish, including the cornetfish, starfish, and pufferfish. Then we headed back the boat, went in the hot tub for a few minutes and then showered and went to the fiesta on the top deck which was so fun and saw an incredible sunset right next to us. It was like a snowglobe theater surrounding us.
